What was your dream job when you were 18?

I like to dream big… I wanted to walk the runway of Dolce and Gabbana and Victoria’s Secret.

How did you ‘E-merge’ here?

A close family friend introduced me to the team, it was a complete career change (I came from, visual merchandising,  scatter cushions, and ceiling heights) and my best one yet…. It’s almost 6 years later and I am still part of the e-mergian family.

What is the scariest thing you have ever done?

I would have to say the Tower of Terror ride in Disney Land – 61 meters high. My biggest fear is lifts, and confined spaces, and this was a lift that dropped from a very high place at very high speed. I wouldn’t do it twice..

Mom or Dad?

MOM  – She’s my biggest hero and she always knows best.

What is your honest opinion of 80s music?

I was born in the 80’s!! Roxette, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Madonna…..these are some of my favourites child hood memories and classics. My favourite movie is Dirty Dancing – I love the sound track and still listen to it all the time. It’s safe to say I am an 80’s girl.

How do you destress?

I like to spend weekends on the couch catching up on series or a good film. I won’t say no to a coffee date with friends, and my monthly nail appointment at Sorbet.

KFC or Nando’s?

I’d never say no to Nandos

Favourite drink?

I have a weakness for red wine. A close second is an ice cold Gin and Tonic.

Who is the funniest person at e-Merge?

That’s a tough one as we are a pretty funny bunch. Jaydene has the best Durban accent; Michelle has a laugh like no other (sometimes a squeak in a moment of panic); and Garth wears flip-flops with socks.

What is the coolest place you have been on holiday?

Barcelona – there is something majestic about the Magic fountains, Gaudi Architecture, and the most incredible food. (You can also take a quick flight to Ibiza for a bit of fun).

What’s your favourite Jozi coffee shop?

I am a coffee addict so tend to try all the good coffee shops. Naked Coffee in Morningside is definitely taking first prize. Don’t believe me?… try it.

What was your first job?

I was a Jack Daniels girl – Promotions at their best. This involved a lot of suitcases and many late nights smelling of passionfruit.

What is the first thing you would do if you won the Lotto?

Jump up and down, pay off all debts, move into a new house, invest, and enjoy!

What’s the greatest secret you can share with a new candidate?

You never get a second chance to make a first impression; that confidence is key but not without a good night’s sleep and lots of preparation so that you can think on your feet.

If you could tell your 18 year old self anything, what would you say?

If I could go back in time, I’d love myself more (self-belief is the key to success); Study something that will allow you to dictate your work hours when you older; Don’t rush into love (there is lots of time for that); and don’t wait for retirement to travel the world – do it while you are young and mobile.
