The word “millennial” is thrown around a lot, and often used in a derogatory way to describe a generation of younger people that, quite frankly, older generations struggle to understand.

While every generation thinks differently to the one before, instead of getting hung up on selfies and perceived delusions of grandeur, is there a more constructive way to think about working with millennials?

Here are 2 key ideas to think about when working with millennials in your team:

1. Listen: As the most connected generation in history, millennials are exposed to infinitely more information that other generations. Use this to your advantage.

2. Provide leadership, guidance and flexibility: Millennials have more choice than ever before. If you provide a working environment where millennials are challenged but given the flexibility they crave, you’ll grow in leaps and bounds.
