You’re the type who likes to mix in a little maths with your code. You’re a bit of a geek when it comes to algorithms but have never had the chance to apply that geekiness to your work. You dig tech but tend to zone out when someone throws a mind numbing change request at you.
This one could be yours.
You’re going to join a team building advanced analytics, quantitative decision support & data sciences based products.
The dev’s here already, are all highly qualified, intelligent human beings who have become pretty good about applying code to less than usual problems.
The environment will suite you if you like a low management, high accountability tech firm in a growth phase. There’s a ton of opportunities for those of you looking for someone who respects your skills.
You’ll need some honour points of your own to get an interview:
- You’re already proud of how well you got through your degree. You’ve either finished well on a Comp Sci degree with Maths 2 OR you used your Maths degree to get into dev
- You now know C# well enough to know that there’s a ton you don’t know yet. You like figuring out the tools you haven’t seen before. You demand a lot of your Manager & their ability to teach you complex code.
- Your backend skills are solid – you can handle either T-SQL or Pl/SQL with some degree of confidence
You will need to have worked client side before – you do not need to be a UI guru but you will need functional front end skills.
You have no fear building in Rest. With that, you would need handy Web Api knowledge.
You may not have built for the Cloud before but you have a certain amount of theory knowledge & look forward to sinking your teeth into Azure.
At work you aren’t using those algorithms, AI or ML skills you applied on your final year project but you are ready to throw down in your new gig.
Money is a variable dependant on how ready you are for this team. They’re not easy to impress but the architects are all friendly, easy going interviewers who are looking for reason to like you & will go easy on you in interview
