Early in March while discussing potential positive impacts COVID 19 might have on recruitment and the IT sector in general, we made a prediction that many companies would be forced to allow people to work from home automatically instilling this remote working culture. We were spot on!
Engaging with multiple CTO’s and CIO’s during the last few weeks a number of businesses have confirmed that working remotely will continue post COVID for many businesses. For some that change may be partial or permanent. This trend extends to consulting businesses as well as end-users including insurance houses, the telecoms environment and of course the banking sector.
Clearly, the positive spinner for remote working is exponential in terms of cost-savings in commuting, quality of life karma, significant road-traffic reduction karma and all the benefits to reduce pollution. Many businesses have indicated that they are likely to follow this remote approach, for the medium-term, if not permanently. They’ve also confirmed, through discussion and in they’re actions, that they need to “keep working” and that they will still be hiring. (See our previous article on Hiring Trends during Covid19)
